Goal (kind of!) achieved

Well, tonight I kind of achieved one of my goals.

At the start of the year, one of my goals was to run 1,000 miles.

Having been off of running with an Achilles injury, and having to take a couple of months off, this goal went straight out the window.

As part of my running rehab, I took to 2 wheels, and decided to revise this goal to covering 1,000 miles, by the combination of running, cycling, and swimming.

Well, tonight I passed the 1,000 mile mark.

Not pounding the pavements as I had hoped, but in my conservatory, on my bike, hooked up to the turbo trainer.

Here’s the proof from my Garmin log:

1,000 miles

1,000 miles

The breakdown:

Swimming: 7 activities, 3.21 miles, 3:23:02 h:m:s

Cycling: 35 activities, 347.75 miles, 24:22:20 h:m:s

Running: 113 actives, 650.61 miles, 104:38:02 h:m:s

I hope to crack on with the running – it’s going well at the moment.  I’d love to get another 100 miles under the belt in the remainder of the year to equal last year.  I’m not going to chase the miles though.

I’ve completed my 12 races for the year, and don’t think I’ll be doing any more.  I had pencilled in the Bedford half on 9th December, but I think I’ll give it a miss – I’m not in half marathon race shape, although I do plan on running a half again in training in the next week or so.

Looking forward to next year, I’ve already got 3 races booked – the Silverstone half in March, the Greenway Challenge in May, and the Blenheim Palace Sprint Triathlon in June.  That will be the main focus for the next few months.  It should be an interesting  journey!

Thanks for reading, and I’ll post another update soon 🙂
